Making a website can be a daunting experience. It's very important to choose the right platform and tools, or else the process can become very time-consuming and expensive. One of the most popular website builders, Squarespace, was purchased by a private equity firm. Typically after an acquisition like this, prices go up and quality of service goes down. That's why I chose to build my site with Strikingly. I'm also building sites for some of my other clients.
So far, the experience has been very smooth. I feel a little constrained by the templates and options, but this forces me to focus on the quality of the content rather than getting bogged down with design and fiddling with tables and scaling. The responsive interface is great for making quick changes, and publishing the changes takes a few seconds.
I've been working with my clients to build their new sites on Strikingly, and having the ability to tell them to refresh the page to see any changes is fantastic. I've probably saved several hours of back-and-forth emails this way.
I'll add another update once I've finishing polishing this site, and I'll do a full post-mortem once my clients' sites are finished. Thanks for reading.
